A motley crew of hashers and harriets were greeted on a chilly frosty morning for Hash 1503 at the wonderful White Hart in Maulden, under new management
Having been put to the sword last week by Knobber a slightly more sedate hash was in order this week.
The On Out saw Wimp, Jamrag and Rapid taking the first of many a falsie. Not to be out done, the slimline Capt F also partook of a few other false trails all the way to the first held check where he was ably assisted by Nik Nak, in keeping his trousers up!
A split of the group saw the knitting circle sprint off past the allotments whilst the frbs went for a pleasant jaunt round the nature reserve. Rapid enjoyed it so much he did it twice. Then a diversion out across the field to rejoin just before the first number check, which was picked up by Jam Rag, Wimp, Globes, DE and ..... no one else.
Shortly after the second and final number was again picked up by some regular offenders whilst everyone else went up the hill to a familiar Held check by the converted Phone Exchange.
Here we came across a very hash looking groups of runners from Maulden on a charity run and Capt F was so distracted in following them he missed the bar check.
Up the steps across the top of the hill looking out across to the woods, horse jumps and shooting range took us past the Stewart House (he of the Brickworks and Stewartby fame) to the Church and then the On Inn.
A very warm welcome in the White Hart, where we were supplied some fabulous Yorkshire pubs [frightening thought must be puds...ed] with Roast Beef, that Blow Felt had arranged with the lovely Landlady.
Tearing everyone away from the fire we held a quickish circle where there were Down Downs for:
- The Hares
- Count Roadkill and Pecker for their contribution to high fashion, especially where legs were concerned.
- Nik Nak for her contribution to sparing Capt F (and the rest of us ) blushes.
- Capt F for cold handed blushes or something along those lines.
- Globes and DE for FRB'ing when everyone else failed.
- Possibly a few others too, but I can't remember.
Big thanks to Blow Felt for planning and organising the hash, especially sorting the pub.
On On to 1504 with The Count at the equally wonderful Engineers Arms in Henlow.
