The last bank holiday before Christmas saw the Cross Keys in Cranfield as the starting point for hares Blow Felt and Lulu to lead the out pack for a sizzling afternoons hash around the 70 hectare site of Rectory Wood (part of the Marston vale forest).

Taking into account the last two meets that saw the hard drinking Hashers empty the best kegs of beer at the Star and Garter (Silsoe) and the Motte and Bailey (Pirton) respectively, Blow Felt warned the landlady to prepare for an onslaught. However, before thirst could be quenched there was a matter of a challenging route to conquer around the newly formed forest.

Good Head and Bell End Too re-joined the hash following their summer recess, along with a hasher from Hong Kong, Velcro Lips. The On Out quickly saw the pack enter countryside albeit at a more conservative pace considering the heat. The only run back along the route (for 8) was immediately disputed by The Count who claimed that within the Treaty of Rome run backs were exempt when the temperature went above 30C. Negotiations continued that would not be out of place at the G7 summit but recognising a No Brexit Deal is on the cards the 8 dutifully ran back.

The hash continued into the shaded woods whilst The Count umpired those beneath his look-out tower. With the hash coming together to discuss the ins and outs of Malcolm the Cat's missing balls (on Globes cap!) the group found open water much to the delight of Good Head, Bell End and Minja who waded in, followed by Forking once he had given Cyclopath his worldly possessions (half a pack of extra strong mints and a BIC pen!!!).

The Count was desperate for a pint and ran all the way back to the pub whist Globes declared she was on fire and needed rescuing. Whilst Double Entry stayed with Globes, Lulu ran for the car and subsequently rescued the two before dehydration set in.

The Down Down was held in the kids play area resulting in Lulu being rewarded with a horse ride with Double Entry and Globes who informed him that he had good rhythm. Down Downs were awarded to the anniversary couples via horseback whilst the hares received their just reward with Lulu riding the Fire Engine and Blow Felt a white stallion.

Further awards went to The count for his umpiring skills whilst he attempted to slide down the slide and Forking on the monkey bars for ... yet again not actually sure.

With beer and cake consumed it's on on to the first Sunday run at The Dukes in Heath and Reach hosted by Hot Shot.
