As the masses gathered on the 3/3/2019, or 3/3/2019 if you're American, outside the Chequers, Hall End, the hardy bunch clearly not put off by the Met Office Weather Warnings of extreme storms, waited eagerly to see if the Hares Good Head, Princess Theakstons and Bell End [Too, if you're H5] would make it to hash on time this week. Given the 35 paces they had to walk it was not inconceivable they could manage this. A large cheer was heard as Good Head and Theakstons emerged, poor old Bell End got no such recognition.

Captain Fantastic called the circle, blasting out some tunes, which gave the hares a perfect Jive opportunity to once again embarrass their 10 year old teenager.

Off we went onto trail, with some doubt of whether the trail would still exist given the sawdust had been blown away by the gales or the flour had been washed away by the following downpours, the hash was at odds to know if they were following a flour trail or sawdust trail: both, to be exact, changing substances from time to time.

Birthday Boy, Hot Shot got off to a great start. Covering a massive 7.9km on the trail, spectacular effort, given that even with the false trails, the hares only managed a pilfering 5.25km when laying the trail.

Where the trail had been beautifully dry and carefully recce'd to ensure shiggy would get those trainers dirty, the weather had proved us wrong, with elements of wet clay, making underfoot a little more exciting for all concerned.

Depth Charge and Knobber were given the honour of one fish hook, on spotting the back hare in the distance a sense of relief fell on their faces, well right up to the point Blow Felt appeared around the corner a few hundred yards away! The hare did chuckle. Outrageous!

A seasonal surprise was to greet those on completion of the trail, Princess Theakstons had been hard at work, clearing the building site, sorry I mean living room, and mixing up a pancake mix, being the perfect host she greeted the visitors and ensured they all were supplied with pancakes and roast potatoes, as she raced to ensure no food was left over.

A fine circle was held shortly after, by Knobber, there was a rumour that the truth may have got in the way of a good story, but Knobber did not disappoint, and no elements of truth were uttered. Many down downs were awarded, Count was caught smiling, Depth Charge was carrying his weapon, Good Head for many many things, Hot Shot for making it through another year. There were others, but the author of these words failed in his duty to record them on the day.

A fine time, a great trail, with some scrummy pancakes, could the day have been any better?[we think not ... scribe]
