In accordance with tradition H5 recognised the anniversary of the tragic death in 1942 of Alberto Esteban Ignacio Gispert by having a run, a meal and a toast in honour of the Founder of Hashing.
Bangers laid a short trail around the Parkside area of Houghton Regis and 15 hashers turned out in varying degrees of illumination on a chilly, but still and dry, evening. Most enterprising: Cyclopath and her electric gloves. Most frightening: Forking and his fog lamp.
Go Houghton surprised this correspondent at least with a tasty and good value meal: curry for most but the menu was eclectic. Hashers were joined by those who avoided the r*n in a taste of things to come.
Shunning a formal circle, H5 thanked Gispert with raised glasses. And Ringer's achievement in completing 700 H5 runs was celebrated by not only a full, 21 gun down-down but also the presentation of a bespoke Photo Album featuring many of the 700. Well done.
On On to Hitchin and The Red Dress Run.
