GIT ORF MOY LAAAND!

It was late on Saturday evening when we received the odious email. As the ever-sage Capn F commented, "Any sort of altercation is upsetting, even if we are in the right", so we adjusted the route so as to avoid Bridge View and its dramatic vista of the two magnificent concrete tunnels that take Churchill Way over the vast, rolling river. In terms of Wonders of the World, it must rank somewhere near the bottom.

At least the various inaccuracies and schoolboy grammar in the email gave me some amusement.

Ironically, this week's run was from The Bridge in Shefford, although not the one referred to in the name of the domain of dubious ownership. The pack gathered in fine festive form, excited not just for the season of cheer and goodwill to all (except, it seems, from those in Bridge View), but also for the impending arrival of WWW and Willy Warmer's baby. Clare was welcomed back along with young Evan, who was visiting us all the way from New Zealand, to spend Christmas with Grandma Cyclopath.

The trail took the pack along Duck Lane (which, like Bridge View, is devoid of anything referred to in it's name) and after a few false trails, continued along the banks of the River Hit, over a bridge and towards Shefford Mill. Despite his best efforts to run up, Forkin eventually succumbed to Cap'n F and Rapid's assistance in scaling the slippery slope.

Moving along the riverbank once more, the pack found the route into Bury Wood and over the Millenium Field and up to Clifton Road. After a held check at the Woolpack, some took the shortcut back into town, whilst the FRBs took the longer route past the Memorial Hall and Bowls Club and through to Ivel Road, and down to find the On Inn.

Back at The Bridge, there was a voluble circle including a lengthy joke from Cap'n F and too much else going on to remember, so please see the pictures to see some of the highlights.

Thanks to our hosts at The Bridge for providing a great venue and decent choices at the bar. Cap'n F and I whiled away too much of the afternoon pre-wetting baby Phoebe's head. After all, it's not everyday that one becomes a Grandad!
