Unsure really as to where to start these wurdz as it was such a full weekend organised to Lady P standards by Bangers. So here goes my recollection of Folloween...

We all arrived on the Friday evening to find our assigned rooms in the well-equipped and very comfortable Poachers Hideaway – a true gem in the Lincolnshire Wolds.

Food had been pre ordered at the Blue Bell and to ensure we were safely conveyed and able to enjoy a beer or 5, transport had been arranged. Clearly given the size of the portions they must have been expecting a bigger bus party, but we managed and all left as a bigger bus party. Much first night banter was overheard by the RA, including Screamer being disappointed by the ban on Cock Riding or even Cock Biting as Globes misheard.

When we returned to the Hideaway cheese and biscuits were on offer but few had the appetite, many including myself, opting to save space for the breakfast cooked up by Capt F, Bangers et al. This set us up perfectly for the main event of the weekend, a 10 mile walk along the Viking Way with a pub stop thrown in for good measure. Somehow the morning was pretty much downhill with views of the Sandy transmitter and the Eiffel tower along the way. Lunchtime came and we were starving again, this time making the most of the £10 Beer and homemade pizza offer as we were joined by the support team of Globes, Pussies, Lady Tarzan and Brenda who dropped off Blow Felt for the second half and picked up Pongo and Perdita for an afternoon visit to Horncastle and a browse of the antique shops.

The return leg was slightly more uphill, but very pleasant nonetheless as we worked our way through gardens (and back again) and past a lake full of geese.

After a short rest, it was back to the bus and this time The Bull beckoned. A wonderful pub in the centre of bustling Horncastle with a fine selection of ale and gin. Another large dinner which everyone enjoyed before we settled back and put ourselves into the hands of Task Master Capt F. Inspired by Dave (the TV channel not our much loved and admired RA) a number of tasks were set for the 4 teams, who earlier in the day had been tasked with creating Play-doh. From memory the tasks included calculating the age of Lady Tarzan in minutes (clue it was not 80), inflating a balloon as large as it can go whilst blindfolded, unravelling a whole roll of Sellotape, describing and modelling an item in Play-doh (modeller blindfolded), filling a shoe box with a single heavy item and something to do with KY jelly which Forking took to with relish (mayonnaise to be precise).

After another good night's sleep and a big Sunday breakfast, we cleared up, packed the cars and set off on a trail, joined by Banger's and Brenda's daughter who had provided the local knowledge for the trip. This trail took us around the fields behind the Hideaway where Globes continued the theme by spotting a Woodcock. Capt F had problems with his trousers and Milly disappeared on the scent of something interesting. A short circle followed, with virtual down downs which can be claimed at the next hash from the RA by providing the appropriately validated drinks voucher.

A superb away weekend and a massive thankyou to Bangers for his impeccable organisation from the whole crew.

Next week Capt F tasks us with finding a trail around Shefford from a new venue, The Cornerstone.

See you there
