"we've broken down in Potton - fear not Ward 10 & Shagpile to the rescue!
A huge welcome back to our founder Chrispy & Mrs P on a visit back from their new base in Malaysia.
After a brief explanation by the hares of how the HUNT - sorry, wrong sport - HASH, will work this week, it's ON -ON down Gransden Road to the Nature Reserve entrance.
After a held check, Capt F seeks out the correct trail down the edge of the woods and is lured into running a few bar checks before finding the first T check - T being where, in the vicinity, hashers would find a bag containing coloured cards with letters on. All take one card and its ON-ON again. We continue up the edge of Waresley woods until the trail takes the pack deep into the woods - here the footpath was rather overgrown, so your Hares were obliged to create a new trail along a ridge, through the trees, bushes, nettles, etc. On to the next T for another card, then Shaggy, Scoobedoo, PP & Capt F dash off in different directions in search of the trail. PP is the fortunate one and leads the pack meandering through the trees only to reach a '4 to the back' check .Flo has to be comforted with TLC by Wallabollox after falling foul to an overgrown rabbit hole! After a couple more checks, lots of bars and false trails, it's on to the third 'T' in a dell under the bridge. Lady P and Shagpile finally catch up but unfortunately the Count, having lost a coil had to limp home with a Green Flag. Gorjoyce feeling totally disorientated and "it's a bit scary in here" was pleased to reach the last T collecting the last letter card. On out of the woods, through Woods Farm and ON-INN - but not before sussing out the adult population of Waresley in the year 2000 [calculated from info displayed on the village millennium memorial] and was the tie breaker question. [Ans. 203]
PP calls the circle up. Down downs for the Hares, Gorjoyce birthday, Chrispy & Mrs P returnees and yours truly again 4 receiving my 300 run shirt, or is it 320?
Armed with 4 letter cards each - who could make a word up? Each letter represented a sweet/choc bar - all flocked round to collect their candy like bees round a honey pot. Tarzan, Shagpile and Lady P or was it Chrispy? B....R I can't remember now, won 6 packs for special one off letters Scrappy [courteous of Shaggy] with FARM won the star prize [bottle of Ukraine Chilly Vodka so Shaggy gets it anyway]. Scrappy just got more candy! Nik Nak with JEMS [this should surely be with a G] got a 6-pack as runner up, but the kid was always going to win it!!
Finally, Capt F got the Good Crack award, not just for being a continuous FRB, but for his CHOCOHOLICISM I!!!
