CHECKS, NEEDED A GUIDE BOOK ..

NICE FLAT FIELD, PLOUGHED ..

DOWNDOWNS, HARES AND HM

Another warm summer's evening, so the hares laid a short run from the Bull. The circle was called and the Hares explained all the different checks that were included on the trail. Within just a few hours the hash had set off, with Ringer checking a falsie heading west. It was the secret RA, Big Blouse, and MLP who found the right track. For the first time in living memory (well, Pongo's memory) the trail lay to the north of the Bull. Big Blouse, MLP, 5 Baah and others were rewarded for their efforts by getting to see the track again - courtesy of a numbered check.

From there, there was only one possible route - Count Roadkill and Bell End leading the way to a ladies check. This was ably checked by Gorjoyce and Flo, with Gorjoyce choosing the right way across the field and down a hill. Another number 7 awaited the FRBs (this being the 777th run, albeit run number 776, there were quite a lot of number 7s.)

After a veterans' check and another number 7, Captain F led the way down a long downward stretch to the bottom of the hill - where the hares shook the pack out of their state of complacency with a number 13. MLP was one of the unlucky ones who had to run back more than once! He then led the way up a long false trail, while Shaggy blatantly ignored the on-on and headed up the hill - and checked out another falsie!

The view across the hills towards the Cromer windmill was enjoyed, but nearly missed because the check had been obliterated - the nice flat field we had laid the trail on yesterday had been ploughed! This slowed the pack somewhat as they made their way back towards the village of Cottered and the On-lnn.

Down-downs were awarded to Overflo (birthday), Private Parts and White Rabbit (Hares), Captain F (no particular reason), Private Parts (making the secret RA do lots of back checks) and certain other reprobates for doing unspeakable things... (which I can't remember).
