PENETRATOR PREPARES TO HARE ..

LEARNING THE THEORY ..

AND THE PRACTICE PHHH STYLE

The band of 23 happy H5ers who went to Ringkisser & Penetrator's excellent Black & White birthday party - where it was great to meet up with Crispy and others - surfaced from various parts of the Plymouth area with plenty of time to ready themselves for a 7pm Hash with the PHHH, many not heeding the warning signs and leaving a change of clothing behind (oh, how the locals laughed!!). So good was Flo's intelligence she opted out altogether. Shame really Hash Mattress - wading across the River Plym 8 times is what hashing around here is all about, or so we're told.

And loads of them turned out for it, calling in a language we barely understood. They regularly have 30+ at 7pm on a Sunday, all year round, and usually run through water. They do run too, with no whimpy held-checks to slow them down they just go for it. This week having negotiated the A38 the first thing the hares asked us to do was swim across the river: needless to say H5ers watched from the bridge as at least a dozen PHHHers did it. But having passed the campsite where a number of us were pitched there was little choice - back and forth across the river we went usually waist deep in cold water. Sometimes deeper - as the unfortunate Eric (aka Sasquatch) found out when gallantly carrying Munchkin across, he strayed near Shagpile who nudged the pair in.

There were short dry options for some - especially the Peckerettes - and of course Lady P found a way to do the whole thing without wet feet - perhaps Parker met her? But the short options were dry in both senses and avoided the well-stocked beer stop. And also missed the views from the hill we hacked up before returning to the Beefeater.

Back at the bar and a couple of well earned beers and a sort of circle, but more a mass audience, very unlike our own. The RA did manage to sneak down-downs in for Penetrator, who claimed to be a hare, started and finished, but was not seen between, Lady P, refusing at the water, Deadmeat, random, and Wiggy for a very hospitable hash. All in all an experience not to be missed to cap off a super weekend. And a few ideas to take back to Beds with us .....
