Paintball managed to leave work early - thanks boss - and arrives home, as Sean (surely he means Pooper? - Ed) is swaggering up the road (why do 13 year olds swagger like that?)

Quick change and then we're off to Somerfield's to buy some bargain basement flour, and then on to Haynes to lay the run. Not much to report except that the weather and views were both fantastic.

Thinking ahead we return home and get Jayne [aka Tarzan - Archive Ed.] to drop us off at the pub. The GM calls the circle which eventually numbers 31 (a good turn-out due to the good weather I suppose) [32 according to the records - Archive Ed].

The On is called and the FRBs call the trail down the hill. At the bottom a bar is found and the pack reverses to go back up the hill. Generally the whole run comprised of going up hill then down hill a process that was repeated a number of times, as we wended our way all around Haynes. For the knitting circle, the hares had been kind enough to lay short-cuts which were gleefully taken as it was a hot and humid evening.

The end of the run was reached after a slightly brief, but very pleasant, 50 minutes. The hash was greeted by a troupe of morris dancers. A fine feast ensued thanks to Paintball who was in generous mood as he was celebrating reaching another birthday.

The circle is called, and the hares each receive their well earned down-downs. Paintball gets another for his birthday. Madonna gets a down down for losing her bag. Shaggy got a down-down for dobbing. S-A-S-Q-U-A-T-C-H got nine down downs for swamping the hash mail server with multiple messages. Munchkin got a down down for losing his tankard. Scooper and Pooper got a down down for racing the RA (why didn't the RA award one to himself?). Ian [Iain Lansdell - Archive Ed.] got one (I don't know what for). Loadsa others got one (sorry can't remember who or what, because the beer was beginning to take affect by now). Paintball got another two for some trumped up charges. Then finally he gets the hash nightie and another cider down-down for the heinous crime of losing a piece of paper.

As I stagger away I can only wonder how on earth I am going to feel in the morning. Well, as it turns out I felt just dandy.

Scooper (I don't think so. I can see another DD looming- Ed) and Paintball
