Now this is a bit of a problem, The run was nearly three weeks ago and at my age ones memory fades, but here goes.

It was a great crew that assembled for a gloriously pleasant evening run. There were ten of us in total with three newies, Bangers, Forking & Rapid Withdrawal.

The network of footpaths around Greenfield and Flitton is excellent, but I can never recall running the Flitwick end of Flitton moor, so it seemed like a cracking idea to set off in that direction.

This is a pretty long stretch so a judicious number of numbered checks which were laid in a 4, 3, 2, 1, 2, 3 formation, in order to keep the group together. These caught the usual culprits Bangers, Depth Charge, Pecker, Rapid, Forking & Underlay, with the knitting circle of Shufflecock, Twizar & Private Parts bringing up the rear.

A held check was laid at the entrance to the Flitton moor nature reserve. After which point it was a beautiful run along the river bank. All went well, but for a few small tree stumps that did manage to catch one or two of us off our guard, but fortunately there were no serious injuries.

At about the half way point there was an on-inn or go large check. The FRBs unanimously decided to go large and the knitting circle unanimously decided to go on-inn.

The lead pack set off and set off towards Flitton and after a good stretch arrive at the White Hart (another favourite) opposite the church. This was in fact the furthest point away from the Compasses and after a small hold, the pack set off back towards a cracking sunset. The pack eventually arrived back at the Compasses, just as the light was finally fading - great timing or what?

The apres was extremely sociable. Some excellent food was laid on by the pub which everyone tucked into with gusto. The sausages were not quite up to Bangers standards, but they were pretty good nonetheless. The pub also served up some great beer, if my memory serves me correctly.

Now to the hard bit and a good lesson learnt. If you want to remember down-downs then don't wait three weeks to write up the words, because if you do you don't stand a chance. I do recall the newies getting a down-down and also myself. I also recall Rapid 'nicking' my "You are a great dad t-shirt". I still haven't got it back, so apologies to my beloved Paige as it was one of my treasured possessions.
